Meet Dtonic – Part 1: What is an AI Data Platform?

That often leads to a natural question: What exactly is an AI Data Platform, and how does Dtonic use it to make a difference in the world?

Let’s start with a story you might remember.
Back in 2020, the world was brought to a halt by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a difficult time for everyone. But for Dtonic, it also became a critical moment to step up and show how our technology could contribute to society.

Using our proprietary solution, D.Hub, Dtonic supported national efforts to combat COVID-19 by drastically accelerating the epidemiological investigation process. What used to take 48 hours could now be completed in just 5 minutes. And we achieved this while reducing the computing resources required—from 1,000 servers to only 20.

How did we do it?

D.Hub systematically collected, processed, and analyzed time-space data of early confirmed cases using a wide range of sources:

• GPS and cell tower location data

• Credit card transactions

• QR check-in data when visiting facilities, and more

From this, we extracted detailed movement trajectories of confirmed patients, identified potential infection hotspots, and built infection networks to understand the spread. Our platform also supported the management of epidemiological investigations and provided analytical tools for problem-solving.

This system was deployed to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), becoming a core part of the nation’s successful “K-Quarantine” strategy—and it’s still in use at KDCA today.

Since then, D.Hub has evolved. Today, it serves as the data infrastructure backbone for a variety of fields:
