Dtonic at the K-Digital Twin World Conference 2025 (WSCE): Shaping the Future of Smart Cities with Data and AI

Date: July 15, 2025
Location: BEXCO, Busan, South Korea
Event: K-Digital Twin World Conference, part of WSCE 2025

Dtonic was proud to take part in the K-Digital Twin World Conference, held on July 15 at BEXCO in Busan as part of the World Smart City Expo (WSCE) 2025. This global event brought together technology experts, public officials, and thought leaders to discuss how digital twins and AI can help cities become safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

From international best practices to local success stories, the conference showcased how urban innovation is being driven by real-time data, cross-sector collaboration, and human-centered design.

🌍 Regional Insights: Practical Smart City Solutions

The conference opened with insightful presentations from partners across Asia:

  • Dr. Non Arkara (Thailand, DEPA) introduced Thailand’s “Practically Digitalized” approach—emphasizing smart design and practical results over hype. He presented a successful flood management system powered by citizen reports, IoT sensors, and real-time mapping.

  • Ms. Nguyễn Chi Khanh Trang (Vietnam, HCA) shared Vietnam’s progress in building a future-ready ICT ecosystem. She emphasized the country’s interest in Korean digital twin technologies, especially for port safety and logistics.

  • Ms. Kim Kyunghee (Busan City) showcased Busan’s digital twin-based urban services, including landslide prediction, elderly pedestrian safety, and 3D structural monitoring of aging buildings. Future plans include AI-driven air quality and light pollution monitoring.

  • Mr. Hwang Jong-sung (President, NIA) offered a visionary keynote, distinguishing between “product-based” and “platform-based” smart cities. He introduced the concept of geo-context awareness and proposed the next step beyond LLMs: Large Context Models (LCMs) tailored for urban governance.

Dtonic CEO Yong-Joo Jun (second from left) shares insights on AI-driven digital twins and the importance of cross-border data collaboration during the Smart City Panel at the K-Digital Twin World Conference 2025 in Busan.

💬 Dtonic’s CEO Yong-Joo Jun on Data Exchange and Urban Intelligence

Dtonic’s CEO, Mr. Yong-Joo Jun, joined the expert Smart City Panel and delivered a forward-looking message about the role of data in sustainable smart cities.

🔹 He stressed that urban challenges are rarely caused by a single factor—they require data that spans across domains, agencies, and systems.

🔹 He highlighted the critical role of international data exchange, citing that many rare-event datasets (such as earthquake or infrastructure failure cases) are more available globally than domestically.

🔹 Mr. Jun called for a tiered data governance model that balances security and innovation, enabling responsible data sharing without compromising sensitive infrastructure.

🔹 Most importantly, he emphasized that digital twins must evolve from passive visualization tools into active, AI-driven platforms that support real-time decision-making and optimization—backed by context-rich, high-quality data.

📌 Why This Matters

The conference reaffirmed that smart cities must go beyond collecting data—they must learn from it, act on it, and share it. Dtonic continues to lead this transformation by building platforms that empower governments, developers, and citizens alike to make better, faster, and smarter decisions.

Whether it's optimizing energy in smart buildings, improving traffic through edge AI, or integrating citywide data streams into one hub—Dtonic is turning digital twin vision into reality.

📣 Thank you to all the organizers, partners, and speakers who made the K-Digital Twin World Conference a milestone moment for urban innovation. We look forward to continued collaboration across Asia and beyond.
